‘Engaging, accessible, informative, hard-hitting and ultimately up-beat talks about tackling our most urgent environmental challenges. At the end of the day, the adventure of sustainability is one we’re all on. Kate inspires and calls us to rise to it.’

Kate at Beyond Borders festival

Using her long distance cycling and other adventures as a novel and compelling communication medium – the idea of ‘adventure plus’ or journeys with a purpose – Kate combines tales of adventure, personal challenge and leadership for change with an exploration of key environmental issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss and ocean plastic pollution. What’s happening, why does it matter and, above all, what can we do? Her powerfully illustrated talks and workshops are always tailored to her audiences, focussing on a particular environmental issue or on wider questions of sustainability, leadership and the shifts in lifestyles, values and worldviews needed for positive change.

Kate has a growing reputation as a public speaker and has given talks to many and varied audiences from the Royal Geographical Society and Kendal and Keswick Mountain Festivals to local cycling and hiking groups; from Hay and Edinburgh International Book Festivals to Knoydart’s Words from the Wild and the Edinburgh Independent Radical Book Fair. She has been interviewed on various radio programmes including Woman’s Hour, Scottish Book Café and Sea Change Radio (USA).

Kate is currently focusing on writing the book – she’s only allowed out occasionally until it is finished! She is giving a few talks before then, however: see list below. And if you have an event that you’d really like her to be part of, do get in touch.
